Small dioecious tree 3 m, female flowers with green ovary, white stigma. Leaves with rusty pubescence. Ripe fruit pink, fleshy, globose, one-seeded. |

Small population locally, in sheltered valley behind ridge,1150 m. Low, dense, winswept cloud (elfin) forest of Freycinetia, Metrosideros, Weinmannia, Cheirodendron, and Reynoldsia, with numerous epiphytes, the ground flora and understoryrich in pteridophytes. |
